PURPOSE: A combined radio and microwave oven and a method for controlling operation of the same are provided to reduce costs by coupling only the radio circuit to the control unit of microwave oven, while achieving improved use convenience. CONSTITUTION: A combined radio and microwave oven comprises a control unit(5) for performing a cooking function and controlling a power of a radio in accordance with the execution of cooking function; a radio circuit(30) connected to the control unit; an operating unit(20) for turning on/off the radio circuit, which performs a combined radio operating and cooking function; and a speaker(31) for outputting voice signals generated from the radio circuit. A method comprises the steps of judging whether a user has selected the function other than the radio function; turning off the radio and performing a cooking function if the function other than the radio function has selected; and performing a radio function if the radio function has selected.
