PURPOSE: A hair-cosmetic composition comprising film-forming gradient copolymer, which comprises two different monomeric residues and is soluble or dispersible in water and/or organic solvents in a cosmetically acceptable medium is provided. The copolymer has an advantage which can be easily handled in water or organic solvent mediums while maintaining beneficial rheological characteristics. An aerosol composition packaged in an aerosol device comprises a propellant and the hair care composition. CONSTITUTION: The hair-cosmetic composition comprises, in a cosmetically acceptable medium, at least one film-forming gradient copolymer comprising at least two different monomeric residues, and displaying a mass polydispersity index(Ip) of 2.5 or less, wherein the composition is able to form a film exhibiting one or more of the following characteristics: a strain(epsilon r) at break ranging from 5 to 2,500%,; a Young's modulus ranging from 0.5 to 1200 Mpa; and/or an instantaneous elastic recovery(epsilon i) greater than 10%. The gradient copolymer has a weight-average molecular weight of 500 to 1,000,000g/mol and contains 1 to 99% by weight of two different monomeric residues.
