PURPOSE: A protector of a variable geometry turbo charger is provided to promptly sense the malfunction of a turbo charger and cope with the problem by mounting a temperature sensor on the rear end of a turbo charger compressor. CONSTITUTION: A protector of a variable geometry turbo charger comprises a temperature sensor(10) mounted on the rear end of a turbo charger compressor of an internal combustion engine, an engine control unit(20) deciding the change to an emergency operation mode by which the vane of the turbo charger is fully opened when the sensing temperature of the temperature sensor is higher than a predetermined value, and an alarm device(30) generating an alarm if the sensing temperature is higher than the predetermined value.
