METHOD FOR SETTING AND RELEASING POINT-TO-POINT VCPVC IN ATM NETWORK

PURPOSE: A method for setting and releasing a point-to-point VCPVC(Virtual Channel Permanent Virtual Channel) in an ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) network is provided to guarantee interoperability and allow information exchange among ATM network management service. CONSTITUTION: When an agent receives a 'bi-directional VC(Virtual Channel) connection endpoint' generation request from a manager(S401), the agent attempts generation of the 'bi-directional VC connection endpoint'(S402), and checks its result(S403). When the agent successfully generates the 'bi-directional VC connection endpoint', it requests generation of a 'bi-directional VC connection endpoint' from an ATM exchange(S405). The agent receives a result as to whether the 'bi-directional VC connection endpoint' has been generated(S406) and checks it(S407). When the ATM exchange successfully generates the 'bi-directional VC connection endpoint', it receives a request for connection of the 'bi-directional VC connection endpoint' as generated by the ATM exchange from the manager(S409). The agent requests connection between bi-directional VC connection endpoints from the ATM exchange(S410) and receives a result as to whether the bi-directional VC connection endpoints have been connected(S411). If the bi-directional VC connection endpoints have been successfully connected, the agent stores the connection information between the bi-directional VC connection endpoints(S413) and informs the manager about the success of connection between the bi-directional VC connection endpoints(S414).
