PURPOSE: A touch pad for operating a vehicle audio system is provided to set up the power and key of a vehicle audio system by preparing a touch pad on a steering wheel cover and to increase the number of function keys by enlarging an installation area. CONSTITUTION: A touch pad(110) having many active button windows for key set-up of the functions of a vehicle audio system is formed on the front face of a steering wheel cover. The touch pad comprises a function set-up unit(100) for setting up the opening state of power on/off state and touch function, a touch pad drive unit(120) displaying the touch pad, a touch sensing unit(130) sensing the key set-up of the active button windows, a sensing signal decoding unit(140) decoding the signal sensed by the touch sensing unit, a function program memorizing unit(150) memorizing the functions of the active button windows, and a control unit(160) controlling the functions by receiving the decoding data from the sensing signal decoding unit.
