PURPOSE: A method for using head words and tail words in a mobile terminal is provided to previously store frequently used head words and tail words and add them as necessary for convenience of users. CONSTITUTION: A user selects the short message transmission function through a key input unit(S301). A message window asking whether to insert head words/tail words is displayed on a display unit and the user selects insertion of head words/tail words(S302). An MSM calculates a size of fields occupied by the head words/tail words data and temporarily stores it(S303). The user creates a short message corresponding to a size of the remaining fields and inserts the head words/tail words data before/after the short message(S304). The user transmits the short message to a base station(S306).
