PURPOSE: A shimmy damper of a steering wheel for a vehicle is provided to repress and reduce shimmy by generating rotation resistance to a steering shaft in proportion to vibration at a high-speed traveling area of the vehicle. CONSTITUTION: A shimmy damper of a steering wheel for a vehicle is composed of a thermal electric power generating element for converting the thermal energy of an exhaust manifold into electrical energy; an ECU(Electronic Control Unit) pre-input with data for shimmy vibration to the vehicle speed and the magnitude of supplied electric currents to the shimmy vibration; a control unit for regulating the magnitude of the electric currents generated from the thermal electric power generating element to information received from the ECU; an electromagnet(40) spine-combined to the peripheral surface of a steering column tube(60) to receive the electric currents from the control unit; and a vibration damper(50) of which an outer periphery is spline-combined to the inner peripheral surface of the steering column tube and an inner periphery is spline-combined to the outer peripheral surface of a steering shaft(70), filled with magneto-rheological fluid.
