REAGENT COMPOSITION AND METHOD FOR DETECTING RADIOACTIVITY USING CYTOGENETIC PROPERTY

PURPOSE: A reagent composition and method for detecting radioactivity using cytogenetic property are provided, rapidly detecting the cellular genetic effects by radiation, minimizing the experimental errors by clearly discriminating the nucleus fragments from nonspecific particles within a cell, and treating a mass amount of samples within a short time. CONSTITUTION: The reagent composition for detecting radioactivity comprises acridine orange as a dyeing material for detecting the nucleus fragments, wherein the radiation has less than 10 cGy of radioactivity. The method for detecting radioactivity using cytogenetic property comprises the steps of: dye treating a target cell with acridine orange; treating the dyed cell with fluorescence and measuring the fluorescence illuminated from the cells to calculate the appearance frequency of the nucleus fragments.
