PURPOSE: An apparatus for supplying a multi protocol line interface is provided, in which the line interface change and addition in the router system is available with very low cost. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for supplying a multi protocol line interface includes a line card(12) provided with a physical layer driving module. The physical layer driving module senses the mount and dismount of the physical layer card(6) and drives the physical layer card(6) by automatically recognizing the line interface transmission protocol of the mounted card when the physical layer card(6) is mounted.
