LIVING RADICAL INITIATOR FOR POLYMERIZATION OF POLYMER AND PREPARATION METHOD OF PMMA POWDER USING THE INITIATOR

PURPOSE: A living radical initiator for the polymerization of a polymer and a method for preparing PMMA (poly(methyl methacrylate)) powder by using the initiator are provided, to allow PMMA having uniform size distribution to be obtained simply and effectively and to allow its size to be controlled by controlling the content of an initiator. CONSTITUTION: The living radical initiator is 4-diethyl thiocarbamoyl sulfanyl methyl benzoic acid represented by the formula I or 2,8-dithiocarbamoyl sulfanyl-4-piperazine-1,10-dimethyl benzoic acid represented by the formula II. PMMA powder is prepared by using the living radical initiator and/or a light with a wavelength of 250-380 nm. Preferably the polymerization is carried out by emulsion polymerization or suspension polymerization.
