The robot includes a screen (1) forming its head of the robot. It also includes a microphone and loudspeaker, and a system for dialling a predetermined telephone number to establish contact with an information call centre. Requested information may be displayed on the robots screen. The robot having a humanoid shape includes a central processing unit situated inside the robot body, connected to a screen (1) forming the head of the robot. One robot hand (3) is sensitive to a handshake from the user of the robot. In response to the handshake, the central processing unit dials a predetermined telephone number corresponding to a telephone call centre and establishes connection with this call centre. A microphone (7) is held in the second hand (8) of the robot. An operator can then provide the user with any required information, either orally via loudspeakers (4) which are situated at the location of the robots ears, or by a remote text transmission for display on the screen. The robot may also carry a web camera, which might be disguised as a button (20) on the robots clothing.
