The combustion residues (2) to be treated are in preferably solid waste comprising dry ash, powdered clinkers or accumulated waste, in which the residues are taken to a furnace (26) to be vitrified. Before vitrification, at least part of the mineral salts contained in the residues are extracted. To extract the mineral salts, the waste is humidified with a dissolving liquid (10) and a solution (14) containing the mineral salts is separated from the undissolved waste (16). The dissolving liquid contains oxygenated water, acid and/or sodium sulfide and is obtained by adding to water an additive which modifies the oxido-reduction potential, an acid to modify the pH and an additive with the property of promoting precipitation of heavy metals. To humidify the residues, they are plunged into a bath (8) of dissolving liquid by pneumatic blowing (9). After vitrification, the fumes are treated by being passed successively through a mist (44) of atomized droplets and then a filter (50). In the vitrification furnace the residues are incinerated using a burner (28) fed with a mixture of oxygen (30) and natural gas (32).
|
