PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator which is capable of restraining the size of a landing frame body from being increased and the manufacturing cost from increasing with the existing landing frame body left as it is, capable of easily performing additional work to be performed to an existing elevator system, of preventing mischief without losing attractiveness in the appearance, and for which a working space larger than an installation space of a safety fence is never used. SOLUTION: An elevator pit 13 communicating with a hoistway 11 where an elevator car body 12 goes up and down is formed so as to be lower than a lowest floor entrance 15 formed by the elevator landing frame body. The space between the entrance 15 and the elevator car body 12 is enabled to open and close by a lid unit. The safety fence housing 28 is installed in the lower of the lid unit. The safety fence 29 capable of being taken out is stored in the safety fence housing 28 when the lid unit opens the space between the entrance and the elevator car body 12. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
