PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cover for bookbinding which facilitates formation of a shelfback and makes the corner parts of the shelfback very strong. SOLUTION: The cover to be used for an album is constituted by forming the shelfback 15 having a U-shaped cross section between front and back covers composed of cover paper, cover core paper and end paper so that it is integrated with these covers. Core paper 12 for the shelfback is adhered to the central part of the cover paper 1 by using a mixed agent prepared by mixing a resin adhesive with starch paste, and one more sheet of the core paper 12 is adhered at need. The paper 1 and the core paper 12 are heat-molded by a mold and thereby the shelfback 15 composed of the paper 1 and the core paper 12 and having the U-shaped cross section is formed.
