GRAFTED CYCLODEXTRIN COMPRISING CYCLODEXTRIN COVALENTLY BONDED TO POLYMER TO CONFORM TO FOOD SAFETY STANDARDS

PURPOSE: Provided is a thermoplastic polymer composition comprising grafted cyclodextrin, which includes cyclodextrin covalently bonded to polyolefin so as to avoid problems related with transfer of cyclodextrin in view of food safety standards. CONSTITUTION: The thermoplastic polymer composition comprises a mixture of a polyolefin resin with a modified polyolefin resin. The modified polyolefin resin comprises a polymethylene backbone, which includes covalently bonded pendant groups substituted randomly. The pendant group comprises a cyclodextrin compound, which has no compound in the central cavity of the cyclodextrin ring. The thermoplastic composition comprises about 100 parts by weight of the polyolefin resin and 0.01-10 parts by weight of the modified polyolefin.
