PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium secondary battery which has a high security and slightly increases the resistance at the time of full charging.

SOLUTION: A positive electrode material for the secondary battery contains a positive electrode active material and fullerenes. The material is characterized in that the fullerenes exist on a surface of the active material. It is possible for the secondary battery to be enhanced its security by suppressing electrolyzation of an electrolytic solution on the surface especially at the time of float charging owing to the presence of the fullerenes on the surface of the active material. It is also possible to suppress the increase of the resistance during preservation at the time of full charging owing to the presence of the fullerenes on the surface of the active material.
