<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an α-glucosidase inhibitor safe and effective even when taking continuously for a long period, since the α-glucosidase is an enzyme for catalyzing the decomposition of sugars in gastrointestinal tract, and by inhibiting its activity, the decomposition of the sugars is inhibited or delayed to be able to inhibit the absorption of the sugars, a hyper blood sugar level after taking food materials is markedly inhibited and it is useful for the prevention or improvement of diabetes mellitus, obesity, or the like. <P>SOLUTION: This α-glucosidase inhibitor is obtained by blending 1 kind or 2 kinds selected from the group consisting of Souzuku (dried seeds of Alpinia ketsumadai) and Sokuhakuyou (dried branch with leaf of Thuja orientalis). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
