<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a demodulator capable of facilitating device design and automatically performing required compensation without the need of changing the design of a modem even in the case that an amplifier is changed and nonlinear distortion characteristics change. <P>SOLUTION: An error detector 13 obtains power information r, a power difference ΔG and a phase difference Δθ from the power information and phase information obtained from signals Ich7 and Qch7 and the power information and the phase information obtained from the signals Ich6 and Qch6. A distortion compensator 8 outputs a gain correction signal G and a phase correction signal θ to a Complex Mult 7 by using the power information r, the power difference ΔG and the phase difference Δθ outputted by the error detector 13, and the signals Ich3 and Qch3 which are the input of the Complex Mult 7.
