PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an applying method and device capable of easily changing applying pitch or the like of a sealing material while securing adhesiveness between the sealing material and a lead material used in a small battery. SOLUTION: The sealing material 3 is cut into a plurality of individual pieces of a predetermined length by using a cutting tool. Each individual piece is held by a crimp tool. A set is made by positioning adjacent individual pieces on vertically opposite sides of the lead material 5. After positioning the sets at predetermined intervals, the sealing material 3 is applied to the lead material 5 via the crimp tool. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
