PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recorder and an ink package in which troubles incident to ink supply to an ink jet head under a negative pressure condition can be eliminated while containing ink under a negative pressure condition in order to sustain the degree of deaeration of ink. SOLUTION: Before an ink package 2 is set, a bag body 5 has been urged by a spring member 25 to separate its opposite wide surfaces from each other and the interior of the bag body 5 is in a negative pressure condition. Since the amount of gas dissolving into liquid is proportional to the pressure, the amount of gas dissolving into ink decreases and thereby deterioration in the degree of deaeration of ink can be suppressed. When the ink package 2 is set, a guide wall 26 enters a containing case 12 from the opening groove 27 thereof and abuts against the resilient arm part of the spring member 25 to press the opposite wide surfaces of the bag body 5 in the approaching direction.
