PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microwave oven with a cleaner for easily cleaning a cooking chamber at its inner face, and its cleaning control method. SOLUTION: The microwave oven comprises a body 10 forming the exterior appearance thereof, the cooking chamber 11 provided in the body 10, a high frequency supply part 17 for generating high frequency waves to irradiate the cooking chamber 11, vent holes 21, 23 formed in the wall face of the cooking chamber for ventilating the cooking chamber 11, a water storage part 25 provided in the cooking chamber 11 for storing water to generate steam, and a vent hole control part 30 for closing the vent hole 21 to control the leakage of the steam from the cooking chamber 11 during operation of the high frequency supply part 17.
