PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active pipe branch valve construction method that can improve earthquake-resistance and enhance reliability of a gas supply pipe, by using an integrated steel on-off valve of a welded structure and conducting all work for fitting the on-off valve to a pipe line and for connecting a branch pipe with the on-off valve by welding. SOLUTION: In a position of the gas pipe 1 where the branch pipe is to be connected, the steel on-off valve 12 with a main body 11 integrated into the weld structure is fitted by welding. With the steel on-off valve 12 opened, a drill 6 is inserted into the steel on-off valve 12 and drills the gas pipe 1. After drilling, the drill 6 is pulled out to open the steel on-off valve 12, and the branch pipe is connected to the steel on-off valve 12. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
