HAND PATTERN SWITCHING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hand pattern switch allowing stable imaging in every traveling circumstance and satisfactory identification of an operator's hand pattern. SOLUTION: An imaging device 3 always performs imaging with an ordinary CCD camera 31 and a near infrared ray camera 32 for coping with abrupt variation of illumination of an imaging region A; detects the illuminance from average contrast of the image on a screen from the ordinary CCD camera 31 by an illuminance determining means 34; outputs the image from the ordinary CCD camera 31 by an image device switching means 35, determining that the illuminance is enough when a peak value of the strength is smaller than a threshold; lights a near infrared ray emitting means 33, determining that the illuminance is insufficient when the peak value of the strength is larger than the threshold; and performs imaging by the near infrared ray camera 32 to output the image. This enables stable imaging in every traveling circumstance such as abrupt variation of illuminance or driving at night. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
