PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide method and device for generating zero gravity for increasing zero gravity time without increasing the size of an outer capsule by canceling displacement of an inner capsule in the due west direction by Coriolis force by imparting initial speed in the due east direction at the same time when launching the inner and outer capsules vertically upward. SOLUTION: In this method and device, the outer capsule 2 and the inner capsule 3 are launched vertically upward after storing the inner capsule 3 into the outer capsule 2 provided to be movable along a guide rail 1 extending in the earth vertical direction with a spatial margin and reducing pressure of a space between the outer capsule 2 and the inner capsule 3 to a vacuum, and a zero gravity state is generated at the inside of the inner capsule 3 while the capsules 2 and 3 freely fall and land on the ground. When launching the outer capsule 2 and the inner capsule 3, the prescribed initial speed in the due east direction is imparted to the inner capsule 3. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
