PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance operability of an air conditioner while giving a comfortable air-conditioning feel to an occupant. SOLUTION: At an initial stage of cool down operation, rapid cooling is carried out by blowing cool air toward the occupant from direct blowing ports such as a meter blowing port 3, a front passenger seat face blowing port 4 and a seat blowing port 11 while giving a cool air feel to the occupant. At the latter stage of the cool down operation, a temperature on an upper surface of an instrument panel 1 and an indoor wall part such as an access door 8 is descended by blowing out air-conditioned air from the upper surface (instrument panel blowing out port 6) of the instrument panel 1 and the access door 8 (door blowing out port 9) while indirectly feeding the cool air to the occupant. Thereby, at the initial stage, the cool air is locally blown out to give the cool air feel and at the latter stage, the cooling air is fed to the whole of the cabin while suppressing influence of radiation heat from the wall part in the cabin. Therefore, the operability of the air conditioner is enhanced while giving the comfortable air-conditioning feel to the occupant. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
