PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scanning optical device provided with a scanning optical system in which the generatrix position adjustment of a second optical system (cylindrical lens) and the angle adjustment of a fourth optical system (cylindrical mirror) are unnecessitated or slightly performed to reduce an adjustment process drastically. SOLUTION: In the scanning optical device provided with the scanning optical system, the supporting part of the second optical system is provided with an adjustment mechanism for the generatrix position adjustment and the adjustment mechanism locates the second optical system at a predetermined reference position by using a positioning member.
