<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document management system for distributing a document so as to be matched with the use permission of a document. <P>SOLUTION: This document management system is constituted by connecting a document management server 1 having a database for storing a document and the use permission condition of the document and a document processing terminal 2 for processing a document through a network. Then, the document processing terminal 2 reads document ID from an inserted document, and adds separately inputted user ID to the document ID, and confirms use permission to the document management server 1. In response to the confirmation request of the use permission received from the document processing terminal, the document management server 1 collates it with the user permission condition data base, and returns the result.
