摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a circular polarization isolation element with which the thin film structured circular polarization isolation element excellent in reflection efficiency is easily and effectively manufactured. <P>SOLUTION: A coated film 13 is formed by applying a cholesteric liquid crystal solution on a glass substrate 11 having an aligning property by using a spinner or the like. Next, a cholesteric liquid crystal film 14 in an unhardened state is formed by heating the coated film 13. Subsequently liquid crystal molecules in the liquid crystal film 14 are aligned by making the liquid crystal film 14 left standing still at room temperature for a specified time so as to keep the liquid crystal film 14 in a planar aligned cholesteric phase state. Then, while keeping the hardened liquid crystal film 14 in a supercooled cholesteric phase state at room temperature, the liquid crystal film 14 in the unhardened state is irradiated with ultraviolet rays under a nitrogen atmosphere so as to form a cholesteric liquid crystal film 15 in a hardened state. By the procedure described above, the monolayer structured circular polarization isolating element 10 comprising the cholesteric liquid crystal film 15 laminated on the glass substrate 11 is manufactured. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
