PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polishing method which can prevent damage and glass chipping caused on the glass terminal processing by specifying the hardness of a connector ferrule used when performing connection of a connector with the use of a coated optical fiber and to make the connector processing more simple and inexpensive by providing the polishing method. SOLUTION: The connector ferrule has Knoop hardness of 10∼700 in hardness and is used for the connection of the coated optical fiber and, concretely, the connector ferrule comprises plastic material of Knoop hardness of 10∼100. Further, a thin film optical fiber element is inserted into a port of the plastic ferrule and is bonded and fixed, and the end surface part is subjected to the polishing treatment comprising two processes of the removal of adhesive agent and the use of SiC film.
