PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solenoid valve that is usable for a hydraulic brake for an automobile, and that operates quietly. SOLUTION: This solenoid valve 10 comprises a valve member 16, a valve dome 18 coupled to the valve member, an armature 19 contained in the valve dome to be movable in a vertical direction, and a plunger 36 to transmit move of the armature to a closure member 45 of a valve seat 46. The plunger is guided with a little radial clearance along the whole length of a vertical hole 17 of the valve member, and it is provided with at least two vertical grooves 39 separated from each other in a circumferential wall. The plunger is formed hollow by a hole 40 at a center, and it holds the closure member 45 in the form of a pin guided into the hole. In the closure member, vertical grooves 55 are symmetrically disposed to be extended in the vertical direction. Fluid discharged from the valve seat as the solenoid valve is released is guided into the hole 40 at the center, and circulating currents are generated for extracting air from an armature chamber 37.
