PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for connecting a shaft of a shield machine, in which there is no work in the shaft and by which the shield machine can be connected to the shaft only by works from the shield machine side and can also be connected to the shaft composed of a steel sheet pile not cut by a shield machine body and cutoff properties between a peripheral ground and the shield machine can be held. SOLUTION: The device for connecting the shaft of the shield machine has a cylindrical fixed hood 20 installed in front of a shield machine body 15, an inner-peripheral hood 21 slidably mounted in front of the inside of the hood 20, a chemical feeding mechanism 27 being secured to the shield machine body 15 and injecting a soil improvement agent to the peripheral ground between the body 15 and the shaft 1, a manhole 34 set up in front of the body 15 and opened and closed for forming an opening section 35 to the shaft 1 in front of the body 15 and a moving mechanism 36 forward moving the hood 21 until the hood 21 is inserted into the opening 35 under the state in which the body 15 is stopped.
