PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superior steering feeling by inhibiting the movement in the radial direction and the rotation around a shaft of a rack guide generated in a retention hole in accompany with the movement of a rack shaft, and solving problems caused by the movement and rotation. SOLUTION: Elastic contact projections 5, 5 are formed on an outer peripheral face of the rack guide 3 in a state of being located on a center line along the moving direction of the rack shaft 1, and engaged with engagement grooves 6, 6 formed on an inner peripheral face of the retention hole 30 in an elastic contact state. Whereby the radial movement of the rack guide generated within a range of a clearance with respect to the retention hole 30 is generated against the elasticity of the elastic contact projection 5 at the same side, and the specific sliding resistance is added to the rack shaft 1 to prevent the sudden change of the steering feeling after the termination of the radial movement. Further the rotation of the rack guide 3 in the retention hole 30 is inhibited to prevent the generation of problems in accompany with the rotation. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
