The assembly for application of plants to vertical and inclined wall (1) comprises wall-side protection layer (2) with adjacent container (4) open to side away from wall, containing plant growing substrate (5), held and fully covered by separating layer (13).Separating layer is formed by textile web, through which plant roots can pass, with plants applied to outside of separating layer. Pref. structure of protective layer permits rear ventilation of facade. Sensors may monitor substrate humidity, while other sensors monitor temperature of mat containing humidity sensors for control of plant watering.
