PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a conductive material for a fuel cell in which sufficient and long-sustained water repellent performance and conductive performance are made to be compatible in as little amount of the water repellent as possible.

SOLUTION: A water-repellent material of molten state is contacted with a carbonaceous material. As a result, this material is combined with required characteristics as water repellency and conductivity as the material for the fuel cell.
