<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the overflow of toner because the toner is supplied to an area where an electrostatic latent image is not formed and a toner quantity held by a toner carrier is increased in an image forming apparatus using a developing device 4 by which the electrostatic latent image on an image carrier is developed by feeding electrified toner (t) regulated by a regulating member 43 to a developing area opposed to the image carrier 1 by the toner carrier 41 and applying developing bias voltage obtained by superposing AC voltage to DC voltage from a power source 44 to the toner carrier. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with a voltage adjusting means 46 to apply bias voltage only whose peak potential on the side of polarity same as the electrification polarity of the toner is higher than the developing bias voltage to the regulating member, and also the amplitude Vpp of the AC voltage applied to the toner carrier is decreased by a controlling means 10 when the toner carrier is opposed to the area of the image carrier that does not form the electrostatic latent image. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
