<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recording system for evaluating many test elements having a different wave length and the different size without requiring an adjustment of a focus by a user. <P>SOLUTION: This image recording system evaluates the analytical test elements, and has a housing means 8 for arranging at least one test element inside, a lens system 5 for recording an image of the test element on a CCD chip and an evaluating means for evaluating the image on the CCD chip. This lens system reduces an image side opening of an optical system to at least 0.7, and reduces a distance between the CCD chip and the closest lens of the lens system to less than 15 mm. A distance between the closest lens of the lens system and the CCD chip is maintained in at least 10 μm for guaranteeing proper sharpness.
