PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a single plate type color image display device with high resolution and high light use efficiency. SOLUTION: Red, green, and blue light beams from a light source part 1 are scanned by using a polygon mirror 7 and guided onto an image display panel 4 to form a rectangular strip-shaped illumination area. The individual pixels of the image display panel 4 are driven with video signals corresponding to the colors of light beams incident on the pixels. The video signals are amplitude-modulated according to dispersion in reflectance among the reflecting surfaces of the rotary polygon mirror 7. Consequently, a color image which has high resolution and high luminance and whose flicker is reduced can be displayed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
