PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of efficiently producing an ortho-metalated iridium complex of high purity in high yield in a short time. SOLUTION: In the production of ortho-metalated iridium complex by reaction of a iridium halide with an organic ligand, the organic ligand is used in an amount of≥30 equivalents based on the iridium halide stoichiometrically.
