PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably perform recording processing, which uses the recording head present in the recording region of a recording medium, and the preperatory discharge processing of the recording head present outside the recording region of the recording medium at the same time, in a full line type recording apparatus equipped with a plurality of recording heads. SOLUTION: The power applied to each of recording heads is calculated when recording is performed based on received recording data by each of the recording heads and it is investigated whether the sum total value of this calculated power and the power supplied to the recording head driven at the same time is within a set threshold value. When the sum total value becomes the threshold value or more, a flag is set. Next, the presence of the flag is investigated when recording data is recorded and, when there is no flag, usual recording is performed and, when the flag is set, recording is performed after the drive frequency of the recording head is altered.
