PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute processing for picture transitions having patterns different between a process where a new image fades in and a process where it fades out thereafter, with easy operation. SOLUTION: A synthesis processing part 20 processes an image selected from a plurality of input image signals. The synthesis processing part 20 is operated by designation of a processing pattern and a progression state of the processing. A counter 32 counts the number of times of sliding from one end to the other of a slide range, of a fader lever provided in an operation unit 2. A control processing part 31 controls processing in the synthesis processing part 20 by designating the processing pattern on the basis of a control signal from the operation unit 2 and designating the progression state on the basis of operation using the fader lever and the number of time of sliding of the fader lever counted by the counter 32. When the counted number of the counter 32 reaches the required number of times of sliding required to complete the processing with the designated processing pattern, the counted number of the counter is reset.
