PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer using a paper feeder adapted to feed a paper sheet without largely raising up a print head and reduced in size by adopting a paper feeder reduced in size and adapted to transport a record medium 16 in two ways: one direction and the other direction. SOLUTION: In this paper feeder 25, when one end part of a record medium 16 transported in the discharge direction of an arrow C is pressed downward by a paper guide 31 and the other end part is released from a flap 30, a part to which a paper feed roller 29 is pressed is functioned as a fulcrum to lift up the other end part of the record medium 16, and in such a state, the paper feed roller 29 is reversed in the other direction (counterclockwise) to transport the record medium in the paper feed direction of an arrow D opposite to the paper discharge direction, thereby locating the other end part on the top face of the flap 30.
