The invention relates to a transport car in a supply unit for metal coils, comprising a chassis (2) which may be displaced along the supply path (1) by means of a drive, with means for raising and lowering a carrying saddle (4) along a linear vertical guide (5) on a base frame (3). The coil transport ca r construction can be improved, whereby, for example, a steel slab is used as a plate-like base frame (3) on which a scissors-type lifting gear (6) is arranged as linear vertical guide (5) and, for raising and lowering the carrying saddle (4), two directly acting lifting cylinders (7) are arranged thereon as drive with opposing separations.
