<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing plate material having a hydrophilic layer suitable for a process-less plate, in particular excellent in plate wearability and surface uniformity. <P>SOLUTION: In the printing plate material prepared by providing the hydrophilic layer and an image forming layer on a base material, on the surface of the base material, an undercoating layer mainly made of a styrene base copolymer or an acrylic copolymer is provided.
