<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem in which there is a possibility where important video recorded with an HD format is erased by mistake because a tape recorded with the HD format (or a zone recorded with the HD format) is mistaken for a blank tape (zone). <P>SOLUTION: In a recording medium cassette for recording with the HD format, an erroneous erasure preventing hole 203, which is decided as being recording inhibited in an SD format recording device, is arranged, and an erroneous erasure preventing hole 206, used by a HD format recording device, is arranged.
