PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for detecting vehicle position capable of enhancing precision in detecting vehicle position. SOLUTION: The method includes first to third steps. In the first step, a GPS information is acquired from a GPS satellite in accordance with a vehicle Y. The second step acquires the result of calculation with a plurality of vehicles X and Y for the position of the vehicle Y based on the GPS information corresponding to the vehicle Y. In the third step, the true position of the vehicle Y is calculated using a plurality of calculation results acquired from the plurality of vehicles X and Y in the second step. The vehicle positions calculated separately with the plurality of vehicles X and Y using the same GPS information are used to cancel the error that occurs in each calculation, resulting in the enhancement of detection precision for vehicle position.
