PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient rectifier, a power controller, a rectifying method, and a power control method. SOLUTION: The rectifier, which rectifies AC to DC and outputs, has a control circuit for controlling the DC to be outputted so that it become a prescribed voltage (a boosting coil 11, transistors 12, 13, and a compensation circuit 31) and a detection circuit (a peak detection circuit 24) to detect the voltage of the AC to be inputted. When the voltage of the AC, detected by the detection circuit, is below a prescribed voltage, the control circuit executes control by making a predetermined target voltage (Vo) as a reference. When the voltage of the AC detected by the detection circuit is above a prescribed voltage, it executes control, by making the voltage (Vp) of the AC as a reference. Also, similar ways of thinking can be used for the power controller and as the rectifying method or the power control method. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
