PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an automatic tuning apparatus in which a tuning mode of a tuner circuit is automatically switched, various kinds of signal information are automatically disposed during tuning and after the completion of tuning, and a user may arbitrarily automatically dispose the various kinds of signal information. SOLUTION: The automatic tuning apparatus is provided with a SYNC discrimination circuit 11 for discriminating whether a video signal scheme is an NTSC scheme or any other scheme, a tuning mode switching circuit 12 for switching the tuning mode, and a color discrimination circuit 13 for receiving a color burst signal (identification signal) 38 to discriminate the video signal scheme is a PAL scheme or a SECAM scheme. It is not necessary for the user to set the tuning mode of a tuning means for the NTSC scheme, the PAL scheme, the SECAM scheme and a SECAM-L scheme, such that the automatic tuning apparatus does not load a burden to the user.
