The invention relates to an orientation system for use in underground mining and tunnel construction, comprised of: information carriers, which are placed at defined intervals inside mine workings and which represent respective position coordinates; a reading device for reading out this information; a mobile computer for processing this information and for linking this information to a 3-D visualization of the mine workings that is loaded into the computer, and; a monitor for displaying the determined location.
