<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recognize the winker of another vehicle traveling on an adjacent lane in order to detect the winker states of other vehicles traveling on the adjacent lane. <P>SOLUTION: A lane recognizing part 13a recognizes a lane on the basis of at least distance data. A vehicle recognizing part 13b specifies another vehicle traveling on the adjacent lane from the recognized lane on the basis of the distance data and recognizes a vehicle side face of the specified vehicle. A winker recognizing part 13c sets a winker area in a color image obtained by imaging the scene including the monitoring area or the distance data with an end part position of the vehicle side face as the reference. In addition, the winker recognizing part 13c detects the pixels of a color component of the winkers on the basis of the color image. The detected pixels positionally corresponding to the area on the color image which corresponds to the winker area are recognized as the winkers. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
