PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a image processing apparatus which satisfies the picture quality in a picture converted resolution, and can construct a simple/high-speed system. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus comprises an interpolation point calculation means 41 which calculates the coordinates of an interpolation point that performs interpolation based on the resolution of the input image data and output image data, and determines the distance from the interpolation point to the reference point determined by a predetermined standard for the interpolation point ut of reference points on the input image data. The apparatus comprises a 1st conversion means 43 which performs interpolation processing of the interpolation point using the most adjacent interpolation method, and a conversion means 44 which performs an interpolation processing of the interpolation point using the pattern matching method. Comparing a distance obtained by the interpolation point calculation method 41 and a threshold value for each color component of the predetermined input image data, a selection means 42 is composed to select either the 1st conversion means 43 or the 2nd conversion means 44, and make an interpolation processing of the interpolation point by the conversion means of the selected side.
